Writing Collection

The following is a collection of my most meaningful writing projects over the past four years. Each piece is unique in style and content and represents a distinct moment in my writing journey. My portfolio is divided into three sections: Writing in Communication Studies, Interdisciplinary Writing, and Writing in Other Disciplines. I have organized my writing collection in this way because I feel as though my writing journey is primarily defined by experiences in my communication and writing courses. However, I would not be the writer that I am today without the exposure and breadth of genres I encountered from writing outside major and minor, which is why I have included a section for writing in other disciplines.

Writing in Communication Studies

Writing in Communication studies has taught me how to communicate clearly and efficiently to a wide array of audiences for different purposes. Through writing in Communication studies, I have gained a better understanding of communication processes of everyday life and built fundamental knowledge of communication in society through theory and practice.

Interdisciplinary Writing

As an Interdisciplinary Writing minor I have had the opportunity to practice, refine, and extend my skills as a academic and creative writer. The texts I have included in this section of my portfolio were crafted in my writing courses such as The Art of the Essay, Academic Research and Writing, Magazine Writing, and Travel Writing.

Writing in Other Disciplines

As a liberal arts student, I have taken courses in a variety of different disciplines in addition to my major and minor. Through these courses I have enhanced my knowledge of writing across disciplines. The texts I have included in this section come from courses including Women, Gender, and Sexuality and Introduction to Asian Religion and demonstrate how I learn about different topics through writing.
